Synopsis

In the small, tightly knit city of Tripoli, Lebanon, where family bonds run very deep, a forty-something man still lives with his elderly mother and has given up on the idea of becoming independent. But when one day his mother suddenly leaves him, the man is left with nothing but the company of a city and what it offers.

Listed as one of the “25 New faces of Independent Film in 2011” by Filmmaker Magazine.

Rania Attieh is from Tripoli, Lebanon. She is an MFA graduate in Media Art Production as a writer/ director of Fiction from the City College of New York. She was recently selected for the CPH- DOX: Lab, Denmark.

Daniel Garcia is from South Texas, USA. He holds an MFA in film from New York University, Tisch Graduate School of the Arts. His second year film “Nothing Nowhere”, shot on location in Morocco, won the NYU Achievement in Experimental Form Award in April 07. His thesis received a cinematography, screenwriting and editing awards as well as being a Wasserman/King Award finalist.

Together they have written and directed many short films to date. Their films have screened at the Anthology Film Archives in New York City, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, The MoMa and many film festivals around the world. Their film “From the Parapet” was a regional finalist at the 32nd Annual Student Academy Awards in 2005, and “Almost Brooklyn” was made under the supervision of acclaimed Iranian director Abbas Kiarostami, and won Best Short Fiction from the Brooklyn Art Council in 08.

“Tripoli, Quiet”, their first arabic short film won the Black Pearl Award for Best Middle East Short at the Abu Dhabi Film Festival in 2009.

Ok, Enough, Goodbye (Tayeb, Khalas, Yalla) is their feature film debut. Winner of ”Best New Directors from the Arab World”, Abu Dhabi Film Festival 2010, the film has garnered rave reviews and is now traveling the festival circuit.

In 2011, they made a short film “Short Scenes from a Long Marriage” commissioned by the Sharjah Art Biennial.

Rania and Daniel reside in New York city where they are in development of their second feature film.
