PRIMEROS PASOS | FIRST STEPS
The Spanish Film Week, which opens on Monday, September 17th at 20:00, is now a regular feature on the calendar of major cultural events in Beirut. To inaugurate its film programming for the new season, the Metropolis Cinema association, in collaboration with the Cervantes Institute and the Embassy of Spain in Beirut, is bringing you the Goya Awards, a cinematic meeting dedicated to the Spanish 7th art.
First introduced in 1987, the Goya Awards celebrate the best achievements of Spanish cinema in different categories. The Spanish Film Week brings you seven acclaimed films made by new Iberian directors, ranging from comedy and fantasy to romance and tragedy and even horror.
Since its launch, the Goya Awards academy has rewarded a multitude of directors who have today become known and recognized for their original and remarkable works, of which will be presented:
- Intacto by Juan Carlos Fresnadinno (Goya Award 2002)
- La suerte dormida by Angeles Gonzalez Sinde (Goya Award 2004)
- Frio sol de Invierno by Pablo Mano (Goya Award 2005)
- Tapas by Jose Corbacho et Juan Cruz (Goya Award 2006)
- Azul oscur casi negro by Daniel Sanchez Arevalo (Goya Award 2007)
- El orfanato by Juan Antonio Bayonna (Goya Award 2008)
- El truco del manco by Santiago Zannou (Goya Award 2009)
The Spanish Film Week revisits recent editions of the Goya Awards and promises to be a precious and out of the ordinary event for film lovers.
The opening night will feature Intacto by Juan Carlos Fresnadinno and will be open to all audiences free of charge. For the other films:
