Synopsis

Regitze is a strong and domineering woman whose drive and courage are an influence on her surroundings. Next to her or perhaps a few steps behind her stands Karl Åge, her husband who is forever staggering up to events. Now he sees his life with Regitze pass in review to his mind’s eye. It begins and ends with a delightful summer party in Regitze and Karl Åge’s little summer cottage…

Kaspar Rostrup was born in 1940 in Denmark. He is a stage and television director and also trained as an actor. From 1984 to 1991, Kaspar Rostrup was head of Gladsaxe Teater, a major Danish theatre near Copenhagen. In 1981, he directed his feature debut, Jeppe of The Hill, based on a comedy by 18th-century dramatist Ludvig Holberg. Rostrup received an Academy Award nomination for Waltzing Regitze. The film met with great popular success and was honored in Montreal and Lübeck.
