The Cinematheque Beirut is pleased to invite you to the presentation of “Cinema in the Arab World, New Histories, New Approaches,” a volume dedicated to the examination of the histories, politics, and conditions of distribution, exhibition, and particularly of audiences.
Cinematheque Beirut presents : “Traces, Researching scattered archives”. This collaborative event will feature the screening of two short films by Chantal Partamian, "Sandjak" (2021) and "Traces" (2023), followed by a conversation between Chantal Partamian and Ghada Sayegh (in Arabic). The discussion will include the presentation of Partmian’s research paper focused on the history of a lost film by Mohamed Karim, as well as the launch of her YouTube channel called "Katsakh: Mediterranean Archives", in the aim of exploring the intersection between artistic and research practices within the realm of archives.
Lebanese Short Film Night features 12 short films from emerging filmmakers competing to win three awards offered by Goethe Institut - Libanon, l’Institut français du Liban and the Embassy of Poland in Lebanon.
The Delegation of the European Union to Lebanon, in partnership with the Metropolis Cinema Association and in cooperation with the European Union Member States, is pleased to announce the 28th European Film Festival in Lebanon. This new edition will be held from 25 September to 4 October 2023.
Taabir film expression workshop groups 6 participants aged starting 40, who will produce short individual video diaries over the period of two and half intensive days.
The call is open until the 22nd of September 2023. Participants will be notified of selection on the 17th of September at the latest.
The workshop will be held in Arabic in Beirut between 29 September and 1 October 2023.
