Metropolis Cinema Association and Ishbilia Theatre present “Terdad Saida: Exploring Inclusivity in Arts and Culture” 

This event will delve into the challenges and current state of inclusivity within Lebanon's Arts and Culture sector. It will showcase accessible, and inclusive cultural practices, highlighting the importance of access for people with physical disabilities.The event will feature the screening of “From the Other Shore”,  an accessible film by Maher Abi Samra, in Arabic and will include the option for audio-description, as well as sign language interpretation and English subtitles.

The screening will be followed by a panel discussion (with instant sign language interpretation) that will explore the lack of accessibility in Lebanon's cultural spaces and propose the multiple mechanisms for fostering a more inclusive cultural landscape. 

Our panelists  will shed light on the underrepresentation of individuals with physical disabilities in cultural events. The panel will explore practical alternatives for making cultural events and film screenings accessible for all. 

What are the challenges that individuals with physical disabilities encounter within cultural spaces, and how can we implement inclusive practices in the cultural sphere?

The panel will consist of Farah L Sheikh Ali and Sylvana Lakkis from the Lebanese Union of People with Physical Disabilities, Diala Kachmar producer of “From the Other Shore”, and Hrag Toumayan from Metropolis Cinema Association. Moderated by Hiba Zibaoui From Ishbilia Theatre.

• Farah Alcheikh Ali, representative from the Union of People with Physical Disabilities will explore the multifaceted barriers  encountered by individuals with disabilities when navigating cultural spaces. From confronting physical obstacles to challenging societal misconceptions, Farah’s exploration aims to shed light on the urgent need for greater inclusivity. 

• Diala Kachmar, Director/Producer, and Sylvana Lakis, the General Director of the Lebanese Union of People with Physical Disabilities, will share their experiences in producing and acting, respectively, in Maher Abi Samra's documentary 'From the Other Shore'

• Hrag Toumayan, representing Metropolis Cinema Association, will unveil two guides aimed at fostering accessibility in Lebanon’s cultural landscape.

Moderated by Hiba Zibaoui, co-founder and managing director of Ishbilia Theatre and Arthub.

"ترداد صيدا: نحو ثقافة فنّية شاملة ودامجة" هو حدث من تنظيم الجمعيّة اللّبنانيّة للسينما المستقلّة – متروبوليس ، ومسرح إشبيلية سيتعمّق هذا الحدث في التحدّيات الّتي تواجه قطاع الفنون والثّقافة في لبنان . وسيستعرض الممارسات الثقافيّة المتاحة والدّامجة، مسلّطاً الضّوء على أهمّية تسهيل وصول الأشخاص المعوّقين إليها.

سيُعرض كذلك في خلال الحدث، باللّغة العربيّة، الفيلم الوثائقي "الشّاطئ الآخر" الّذي أخرجه ماهر أبي سمرا، مع تضمين خيار الوصف الصوتيّ (Earcatch)، بالإضافة إلى توفير التّرجمة الفوريّة باللّغة الإشاريّة والتّرجمة باللّغة الإنجليزيّة.

يلي العرض حلقة مناقشة تتناول النّقص على مستوى توافر الوصول إلى المساحات الثقافيّة في لبنان، ويتبعها اقتراح الآليّات المتعدّدة الّتي تعزّز مشهدًا ثقافيّاً أكثر شموليّة. سيتمّ توفير التّرجمة الفوريّة بلغة الإشارة خلال الجلسة

.سوف يسلّط المتحّدثون الضّوء على التّمثيل الناقص الّذي يطال الأشخاص المعوّقين في النّشاطات الثقافيّة. كما ستتضمّن الحلقة عرض بدائلَ عمليّة تهدف إلى تحويل النّشاطات الثّقافيّة، وعروض الأفلام، مكاناً متاحاً للجميع.

ما هي التحدّيات الّتي تواجه الأشخاص المعوّقين ضمن المساحات الثقافيّة؟ وكيف يمكننا تطبيق ممارسات دامجة في المجال الثقافيّ؟

يشارك في حلقة المناقشة كلّ من فرح الشّيخ علي و سيلفانا اللقيس, من الاتّحاد اللبنانيّ للأشخاص المعوّقين حركيّاً، وديالا كشمار، منتجة "الشّاطئ الآخر" وهراك تومايان من الجمعيّة اللّبنانيّة للسينما المستقلّة – متروبوليس. وسوف تدير حلقة المناقشة هبة الزيباوي، من مسرح إشبيلية . 

• ستتطرّق فرح الشّيخ، ممثّلة الاتّحاد اللبنانيّ للأشخاص المعوّقين حركيّاً، إلى العقبات المتعدّدة الأوجه الّتي يواجهها الأشخاص المعوّقين الخاصة في تنقّلاتهم ضمن المساحات الثقافيّة. وستسلّط الضّوء على الحاجة الملحّة إلى تعزيز الشّموليّة من أجل التغلّب على العوائق الجسديّة، ومواجهة المفاهيم المجتمعيّة الخاطئة.

• تشاركا المخرجة/المنتجة ديالا كشمار، وسيلفانا لاكيس، رئيسة الاتحاد اللبناني لاشخاص المعوقين حركياً، تجاربهم في الإنتاج والتمثيل، في  فيلم الوثائقي من إخراج  ماهر أبي سمرا بعنوان "الشاطئ الآخر".

• سيكشف هراك تومايان، ممثّل الجمعيّة اللّبنانيّة للسينما المستقلّة – متروبوليس سينما، النّقاب عن دليلَين يهدفان إلى تعزيز إمكانية الوصول على صعيد المشهد الثقافيّ في لبنان.

 تُدير الحلقة هبة زيباوي ، وهي المؤسِّسة المشاركة والمديرة الإداريّة في مسرح إشبيلية
