Cinematheque Beirut presents: “Traces, Researching scattered archives”. This event will feature the screening of two short films by Chantal Partamian, "Sandjak" (2021) and "Traces" (2023), followed by a conversation between Chantal Partamian and Ghada Sayegh (in Arabic). The discussion will include the presentation of Partmian’s research paper focused on the history of a lost film by Mohamed Karim, as well as the launch of her YouTube channel called "Katsakh: Mediterranean Archives", in the aim of exploring the intersection between artistic and research practices within the realm of archives.

يَسُرُّ سينماتيك بيروت الإعلان عن تنظيم" آثار: البحث في أرشيف مشتت." هذه الفعالية تتضمن عرض فيلمين قصيرين لشانتال بارتاميان، "سنجق " (٢٠٢١) و "آثار" (٢٠٢٣)، يلي العرض حوار بين شانتال بارتاميان (المخرجة) وغادة صايغ (باللغة العربية) . سوف يضم الحوار عرض بحث شانتال بارتاميان الذي يركز على تاريخ فيلم مفقود لمحمد كريم، بالإضافة إلى إطلاق قناتها على يوتيوب بعنوان "كتساخ: أرشيف البحر الأبيض المتوسط"، بهدف استكشاف التقاطع بين الممارسات الفنية والبحثية في مجال الأرشيف.

Chantal Partamian 

Chantal Partamian is a filmmaker and archivist known for her exploration of themes like migration, identity, conflicts, and obsolescence. She primarily works with super 8mm and found footage. In her role as an archivist, she focuses on preserving and restoring reels from the Mediterranean region while conducting research on archival practices in conflict areas. Partamian's films have gained recognition and awards at numerous festivals and are distributed by Vidéographe, Groupe intervention Vidéo (GIV), and the Canadian Filmmakers Distribution Center.

شانتال بارتاميان 

شانتال بارتاميان هي مخرجة أفلام تجريبية وأمينة أرشيف. يستكشف عملها موضوعات الهجرة والهوية والصراع والتقادم، وذلك باستخدام لقطات Super 8mm واللقطات المعثور عليها found footage بشكل أساسي. تركز أنشطتها الأرشيفية على حفظ وترميم البكرات من حوض البحر الأبيض المتوسط، إلى جانب البحث في الممارسات الأرشيفية في مناطق الصراع. عُرضت أفلام بارتاميان في العديد من المهرجانات و وحصلت على جوائز عدة، ويتم توزيعها من خلال (Vidéographe، Groupe Intervention Vidéo (GIV ومركز توزيع صانعي الأفلام الكنديين (CFMDC). 

Ghada Sayegh

Writer, researcher, and associate professor of film studies at the Institute for Theater, Audiovisual and Cinematic Studies, Saint Joseph University of Beirut, Ghada Sayegh’s research focuses on artistic creation confronted with history. In addition to her numerous published articles on cinema and contemporary art in Lebanon, she is working on a collection of poetic fragments entitled The End of the World has Already Occurred. She is a member on the editorial board of the online cinema review Hors-Champ (https://horschamp.qc.ca).

غادة الصايغ

كاتبة و باحثة وأستاذة مشاركة في حقل الدراسات السينمائية في معهد الدراسات المسرحية والسمعية المرئية والسينمائية في جامعة القديس يوسف في بيروت، تركّز أبحاث غادة الصايغ على الإبداع الفني في مواجهة التاريخ. إضافة إلى مقالاتها العديدة المنشورة حول السينما والفن المعاصر في لبنان، تعمل على مجموعة قصاصات شعرية بعنوان "لقد حدثت نهاية العالم". إنها عضو في هيئة تحرير مجلة النقد السينمائي الإلكترونية "هور شان"
