An automaton gifted unto Lebanon in 1945 survives today in an abandoned mansion somewhere in the capital. A young filmmaker investigates the history of this forgotten wonder of art and science and drags the giant creature out into modern day Beirut. There the discrepancy between Manivelle’s own memories of his vaunted past and the reality as recounted by those that knew him begins to unravel.
