To celebrate their 20th birthday, Yasmine and Leila decide to pay a visit to the great cinephile and collector Mr. Farouk to discover the Lebanon they never knew. The two heroines will dive into both Eastern and Western films shot in Beirut throughout a period of 40 years, and that transformed the capital into a ‘star’.

Pour fêter leurs vingt ans, Yasmine et Leila décident de rendre visite au grand cinéphile et collectionneur M. Farouk pour découvrir un Liban qu’elles n’ont jamais connu. Les deux héroïnes vont se plonger dans des images de films libanais et internationaux tournés sur une quarantaine d’années dans Beyrouth et qui ont transformé la capitale en vedette.

احتفاءً بذكرى عيد ميلاد "ياسمين" و"ليلى" العشرين، تقرّر الفتاتان أن تزورا الرجلَ العاشق للأفلام وجامعِها السيّد فاروق، من أجل اكتشاف لبنانٍ لم تعرفانه من قبل. وتغوص البطلتان في صور أفلامٍ لبنانية ودولية صُوّرت على مدى أربعين عاماً في بيروت وجعلت من العاصمة نجمةً كبيرة.

The Festival pays tribute to the life and work of filmmaker Jocelyne Saab, who left us too early on the 7th of January 2019, whose images and poetry where only met by a stronger energy and commitment to speak on behalf of those with no voices.

Le festival rend hommage à la vie et l’œuvre de la réalisatrice Jocelyne Saab, qui nous a quittés trop tôt le 7 janvier 2019, et dont les images et la poésie ne trouvaient d’égal que dans l’énergie et l’engagement de faire entendre ceux qui n’ont pas de voix.  

يكرّم المهرجان حياة ومسيرة عمل المخرجة جوسلين صعب، التي غادرتنا مبكراً في السابع من كانون الثاني 2019، وقد كانت صورها وشاعريتها متوازيتان مع طاقة والتزام بالتحدث بإسم من ليس لديهم صوت.
