Characters come in and out of doors. They enter rooms only to leave them seconds after. Our hero stands on the threshold of a gate waiting to gain access to the home of a doctor suspected in a case of mysterious disappearances.

Keeping only scenes where doors, portals and gates appear, Rania Stephan re-edits the footage of the 1987 Egyptian sci-fi film “The Master of Time” by Kamal Al-Sheikh to condense it into a ballet of trajectories, revealing the multiplicity of the threshold motif, its importance in sci-fi films and the power dynamics that lie within the genre.

Les personnages entrent et sortent. Ils n'entrent dans les chambres que pour les quitter quelques secondes plus tard. Notre héros se tient sur le seuil d'une porte en attente de pouvoir accéder à la maison d'un médecin soupçonné d'avoir mystérieusement disparu.

Rania Stephan réédite les images du film de science-fiction égyptien «The Master of Time» de 1987, de Kamal Al-Sheikh, afin de les condenser en un ballet de trajectoires, révélant la multiplicité du seuil, son importance dans les films de science-fiction et la dynamique de pouvoir qui caractérise ce genre.

أعادت توليف رانيا اسطفان لقطات فيلم الخيال العلمي المصري "قاهر الزمن" (١٩٨٧) من إخراج كمال الشيخ، احتفاظاً بالمشاهد التي تظهر فيها الأبواب والبوابات والعتبات فقط. النتيجة هي نسخة مكثّفة عن الفيلم الأصلي تنكشف من خلالها باليه من المسارات تُظهر تعدد رمزية العتبة وأهميتها في أفلام الخيال العلمي كما أنّها تدلّ على ديناميات القوة التي تكمن في هذا الصنف من الأفلام.
