“هذا الفيلم هو نتاج عامَين من العمل الذي امتدّ من شباط/ فبراير 1976 حتى آذار/ مارس 1978. يتجاوز الفيلم هذه الفترة الزمنية بغرض إلتقاط الأسباب البعيدة للنزاع، ويحاول وضع خطٍ زمنيٍ للأحداث؛ تفكيك لبنان، وتصفية الحركة الفلسطينية، وتوازن القوى الجديد في الشرق الأوسط تحت حكم الولايات المتحدة الأميركية. الأحداث التي نتجت عن الاحتلال الإسرائيلي لجزءٍ من لبنان، وتدخّل الأمم المتحدة الذي رسّخ الأمر. بهذا المعنى، الفيلم غير تامٍ، إذ سعى إلى مرافقة واقع البلد الآخذ دومًا بالتطور، ومعاناة شعبه.”

“This film is the result of two years of work, from February 1976 to March 1978. Through certain documents presented here, this film goes beyond this period to grasp at the remote causes of the conflict. It attempts to draft a timeline of events: the dismemberment of Lebanon, the liquidation of the Palestinian movement, the new balance of powers in the Middle East under US rule. The events that resulted from the Israeli occupation of part of Lebanon, and the intervention of the United Nations confirmed this. In this sense, this film is not finished, as it endeavored to accompany the ever-evolving reality of a country, and the suffering of a people.” – Randa Chahal Sabbag

“Ce film est le résultat de deux années de travail : de février 1976 à mars 1978. Mais par l’analyse qui le sous-tend, et par certains des documents présentés, il déborde cette période pour saisir les causes lointaines du conflit. Il tente d’esquisser une évolution possible des événements : démembrement du Liban, liquidation du Mouvement palestinien, nouveau rapport de forces au Moyen-Orient sous l’égide américaine. Les derniers événements qui se sont soldés par l’occupation israélienne d’une partie du territoire libanais, et l’envoi de forces des Nations Unies, le confirment. C’est en ce sens que ce film n’est pas achevé, puisqu’il s’est donné pour but d’accompagner la réalité mouvante d’un pays et les souffrances d’un peuple.”
