فريد هو رجلٌ إسلامي إصلاحي، وشارل هو دبلوماسي فرنسي. تدور أحداث الفيلم في القاهرة وحولها. يستعدّ فريد لتسليم السلطات الفرنسية لائحةً بأسماء إرهابيين ينشطون في الأراضي الفرنسية مقابل إطلاق سراح صديقه في أحد السجون الفرنسية. ليس الأمر اتفاقًا بل صفقةً تجارية. يرتفع منسوب التوتر بين شارل وفريد؛ ليس حبًا، بل هو انجذابٌ لا يقاوَم. لم يسبق لجولييت – زوجة شارل – أن شعرت بمثل هذه الغيرة من قبل. يعمد فريد إلى إغواء شارل على سبيل العادة، ويتحدّاه أن يستسلم. لكن التاريخ أقوى منهما.

Farid is a reformed Islamist, Charles is a French diplomat. The action takes place in and around Cairo. Farid is prepared to hand over to the French authorities a list of terrorists operating on French soil, on the condition that his friend be freed from a French prison. It is not a pact, but a trade. A tension develops between Charles and Farid, not love, but an irresistible attraction. Charles’s wife, Juliette, is devastated – she has never felt so jealous. Farid seduces Charles out of habit, and dares him to give in. History is stronger than them.

D’un côté un islamiste repenti Farid. De l’autre un diplomate français Charles. Le tout se passe au Caire et ses environs. Farid est prêt à livrer aux services français la liste des noms des terroristes opérant sur le sol français à condition de libérer son ami emprisonné en France. Ce n’est pas vraiment un pacte, c’est un troc. Entre Charles et Farid, ce n’est pas l’amour qui s’installe mais une attirance irrésistible. L’histoire est plus forte qu’eux.
