The director begins his journey by reading a novel written by “Nassif” about his life 30 years ago, when he was a former soldier fleeing war, hiding in dark cinemas and watching his favorite film “Papillon” … his dream was to become like Steve McQueen. The director met Nassif and decided to film things that happened with the writer in the past, in the hope that their manipulation of events would change some of that reality that keeps repeating itself. Will the director manage to escape from Baghdad as the writer did eventually? Will the director be able to achieve his dream and help Nassif to do the same?

يبدأ المخرج رحلة بقراءة رواية كتبها نصيف عن حياته قبل ٣٠ عام، ليكتشف ان حياة الكاتب تكرر نفسها لكن بطلها الآن هو المخرج. يلتقي بالكاتب الذي يحلم أن يصبح ممثلاً عالمياً في السينما لكن الحرب وضعته على طريق طويل. يواجه باقر حيرة كبيرة في البقاء داخل بغداد او ان يفعل مثل ما فعل الكاتب ليحقق حلمه ويهرب. يقررا تصوير ما حدث فعلاً مع الكاتب في الماضي على أمل أن تلاعبهم بالأحداث سيغير شيء من الواقع الذي يكرر نفسه، لكن هل يهرب المخرج من بغداد مثل ما فعل الكاتب في النهاية؟
