On an October evening of 1961 in Paris, a man leaves his home to join a pacifist march for Algeria’s independence. A photograph reconstructs the off-screen of the event through the fragments of a suspended daily life. Throughout the work, the documents, the objects and the decor of the photographic scene in progress, « Hors-titre » investigates the materials of history and the entanglement of the gaze. Step by step the invisible archive is relived and the body, ready to leave, becomes a fiction to bear witness to history.
